R. Tucker Kirk, CIC, CPIA
Chief Operating Officer
Tucker grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, received a BA degree from Lynchburg College. He completed graduate level courses at The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at The University of Virginia and The Kellogg Graduate School of Management from Northwestern University. He holds the professional designations of Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Professional Insurance Agent and holds a Florida Property and Casualty and Life and Health license (E024903).
Tucker started his insurance career as a producer in an insurance agency in Lynchburg; within a few years purchased the agency. After 8 years as agency owner he sold his agency and went to work for Zurich Insurance Group. He started his 16 year career with Zurich as General Manager of their Virginia/DC Operation. His duties included the responsibility for loss control, premium audit, underwriting, claims (four offices), human resources, State Insurance Department compliance, operations and marketing. Additional responsibilities included pricing guidelines for all insurance lines of business. Participated in the underwriting and pricing of large commercial accounts, ranging from colleges and universities to major building and road contractors to communication giants.
Tucker was promoted to Sr. Vice President in the Zurich Insurance Group and was responsible for a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) in Overland Park, KS. As head of the SBU he had nationwide responsibilities for the marketing, underwriting, claims, call center, project management, quality compliance, market research, actuarial, information systems, 50 State Insurance Department compliance for his Division and human resources. He served on Board of Directors and served on the I.S. Steering Committee.
Tucker spent the next 9 years as a consultant. He has done extensive consulting work with NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners), Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Westfield Companies, Patriot Underwriting Managers, Professional Insurance Underwriters, Armed Forces Insurance, etc. Areas of demonstrated effectiveness include:
